Not worth the risk using the one that's failing. There is a firmware update available from Seagate; don't know if it is too late after it crashes. Way i found ... some body told me if i go on with floppy i wont need a KB for recovering new bios ...

- i found that i have updated my old bios to a BETA Version and i think it cuases this problem ...

Ask ! I unplugged my 2 hdd's and set up one hdd on IDE1 and the dvdrom on IDE2 and reset the BIOS ( Y) booted up fine. However, drives that have already been affected can't have the firmware applied to them due to their locked-down status.
