The good thing about this error, at least, is that the installer rolls your system back to Windows 8, so you’re not stuck with a bricked system. The driver in my case is an essential sound driver which sw update sees as necessary to install but auto update will yield failed (-10) after agood number of minutes downloading But, the fact that this fixed it really means there are fundamental flaws in Windows now that were not there in previous edition.

None of the Windows 8 tiles are nowworking, even though apps like Internet Explorer will run from Start menu / desktop.
