If that's the case, it is possible for one head to be broken / unable to track. If you have a Blu-Ray drive – in your PC or as a Home Theater component – then there is a good chance you will need to flash new firmware. BTW, the ones for CDROM are the same as the ones for DVD. You probably do not need any firmware updates.

- Maybe once you put in a disc the drive starts spinning but the disc is never available on your computer.
- I use PowerDVD 10 to attempt to watch the movies, which came on the driver disc for the drive, and it won't see any blu-rays inserted either.

Clean the lens with the cotton wool stick and alcohol.After it's been cleaned re-assemble the drive and test (do not test the drive without re-assembling first due to laser radiation). I found that many times it is that the lens is dirty in the drive.
